A summary of fees and charges for commissioned drawings & paintings by Helen Chester
Portraiture
Portraits in pencil or pen & ink on paper, working from photograph.

Head and shoulder portrait in pencil or pen & ink, £500 (mount & frame extra).

Additional sitter will be extra and quoted for on request.
Portraits oil on board.

A painting in oils on board of head & shoulders, from £1,500 (frame extra).

Additional sitters or full length portraits will be extra and quoted for on request.
Portraits in oils on board with Dutch Metal Leaf (imitation gold/silver leaf) with illustrations of subject's life.
Due to the current situation I am only working from photographs.

single person portrait with vignettes, prices start at £2,500 (frame extra) depending on number of vignettes and whether a gilded military badge is included.

Additional sitters or full length portraits will be extra and quoted for on request.

Public Terms of business

Payment to be made in three stages - at the acceptance of the commission - at the middle stage when painting has reached a certain development - final payment on acceptance of the painting as agreed with or without a frame.

Additional cost of frames can be quoted for depending on size of work.

The painting remains the property of the artist until final payment has been made. I regret that stage fees cannot be returned.

Should for whatever reason a commission be cancelled by the client between stage two and stage three then payment in full is required.

Should the commission be broken by the artist a full refund with be provided and all work will remain the property of the artist.
